Liquid natural gas (LNG) has a temperature of -170°C. Under such extreme conditions, Elmico thermosetting plastic has been used as a fire retardant and material protection for the insulation around tanks and pipes. Elmico has supplied such solutions to Hyundai’s shipyard in Korea, and it has been awarded a contract with Power Alstom to protect the concrete at the CO2-capture plant in Mongstad, Norway. Elmico provided coating for the subsea gas pipeline between Wales and Ireland. Products are also available solve challenges in biogas production plants. Strong sealing properties mean that Elmico’s thermosetting plastic solutions have important waterproofing applications in hydroelectric power plants to protect dams and reservoirs.
